About NOMURA-AP Index Series

Introduction

There are three main indices classified under the Nomura-AP Index Series: AP Major, AP General and AP IT Index. The AP Major Index is a blue-chip index covering 250 equities in 12 Asia-Pacific markets (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, China and India). The AP General Index is a broad market benchmark covering around 80% of the market caps of the 12 countries. It is composed of blue chips, as well as tradable small to medium-sized enterprises. Nomura-AP IT index is designed to single out from the AP General Index the leading companies in the Asia Pacific region involved in the development of information technology products and services.
The three indices take trading restrictions on foreign investors into consideration and include only companies and portion of securities that are investable to foreign investors. All indices and sub-indices are calculated daily in terms of local currencies, Japanese Yen, U.S. dollars, and British pounds, based on a market capitalization approach.

NOMURA-AP Major Index

The NOMURA-AP Major Index broadly covers 250 Blue chip stocks of 12 Asia Pacific countries.
The country indices are designed to replicate the performances of the major local market indices.
The indices contain only most liquid securities in their respective markets.

NOMURA-AP IT Index

The NOMURA-AP IT Index covers IT related companies in 12 Asia Pacific countries.
This index has its original sector classification; "Network","Network Equipment", "Platform","Content", and "Components".
The indices contain only liquid securities in their respective markets.

NOMURA-AP General Index

The NOMURA-AP General Index broadly covers around 1,000 large and medium-sized companies of 12 Asia Pacific countries.
The index is a broad market benchmark aiming to cover about 80% of the market capitalization of each country.
The indices contain only most liquid securities in their respective markets.
